Committee Guidance

The work of the Wisconsin Section, as with most professional organizations, is accomplished at the committee level. Our goal is for the Wisconsin Section to have "active committees doing meaningful work." As a means of assisting our committees and committee chairs in obtaining this goal, the Section has developed guidance documents, which are included as links below:

Committee Guidance Manual: This document provides an overview of the committee process at the Section level, including what is expected of committees, what the chair's role is, what the Board's role is, how we communicate, etc. This document was written to assist committee chairs in managing their committees.

Section Annual Activity Timeline (SAAT): This timeline provides an annual overview of the major events, meetings, and related activities of the Wisconsin Section and CSWEA. You are encouraged to download the Power Point file and create and annual activity timeline for your committee.

Annual Plan Guidance: Each committee should develop an annual plan, which provides goals and direction each committee. The committee chair should work with your Board liaison (see below) to develop a draft plan for the November Annual Business Meeting. The plan is then modified as needed for approval at the Winter Board Meeting, with implementation of the plan starting after the May meeting. The Annual Plan Guidance document provides a template to develop an annual plan for your committee. Download Annual Plan Template (MS Word)

Quarterly Report Requirements: An important function of the technical committees is development of a quarterly report, which should be submitted to the Board approximately two weeks prior to each of our 4 Board meetings (May, August, November, February). This link provides a summary of the information to include in each of your quarterly reports. These reports should generally not be lengthy, but rather should present a summary of accomplishments, activities, and related issues pertaining to your committee.
