SENIOR PROJECT MANAGERS/RESIDENT ENGINEERS

The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) seeks Senior Project Managers (SPM) and/or Resident Engineers (RE). MMSD currently manages a $150 million annual Capital Improvement Program.

SPMs manage and administer multiple design and construction budgets, contracts, and various studies for improvements that have been identified to watercourse, conveyance, and water reclamation facilities.

REs provide on-site management and administration of multiple construction contracts for projects involving new construction, replacement, and rehabilitation of the MMSD's watercourse, conveyance and water reclamation facilities.

Projects involve the implementation of cost effective solutions for sewerage and water quality issues within the District's boundaries.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related major and six to seven years of related experience in wastewater, sewer and watercourse and Professional Engineer's registration. Individuals must possess a high degree of human relations, communications skills, interpersonal and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to resolve conflict. Proven construction management ability and/or proven project management ability. Experience related to Primavera and Microsoft Office Products highly desirable. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be acceptable.

Residency within MMSD boundaries (which includes Milwaukee County excluding South Milwaukee) required within one year.

Salary: $69,054 - $98,022 DOQ; competitive benefits package.

Lead Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

Wheaton Sanitary District is accepting applications for a Lead Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. This position reports to the plant superintendent and assists with operation and maintenance of the District's wastewater facility. Responsibilities include wastewater plant operation, coordination of work with other departments, supervision of staff, assignment of tasks, ensuring conformance with OSHA, NPDES, and storm water regulations.

Requirements include a Class II wastewater operator license with the ability to obtain an IEPA Class 1 wastewater operator and CDL license; ability to lift 50 lbs, ability to respond to emergency calls, strong verbal and listening skills, and the ability to direct a 24/7 facility. Bachelor's degree, team building skills, conflict resolution skills, familiarity with GE Fanuc SCADA, and facility maintenance/construction experience are a plus.

This is a full time, salaried, position with an annual performance review. Prefer residency within 20 miles of the District, salary from $47 to $75k.

Responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of all GLSSWD facilities including water supply, storage, distribution and treatment facilities and wastewater collection and treatment facilities. This position, as directed, requires an approximate, once a month 8-day shift through a weekend and associated holidays with 24 hour a day on call status. This position also requires a twenty-minute response time to the GLSSWD Wastewater Treatment Facility while on call. High School Diploma or GED and two years experience operating, maintaining and repairing water and wastewater treatment facilities or High School Diploma and one year college or technical training in water/wastewater field or other equivalent experience. MDH Class D Water Operators License and MPCA Class D Wastewater Operator License preferred. Valid driver's license required. Ability to obtain special engineer boiler license within six months of hiring date. Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise the work of subordinate personnel engaged in the operation of Waste Water treatment plants
  • Ensures all equipment and processes are operating efficiently
  • Coordinates equipment repair and process improvements with the various departments
  • Makes job assignments and schedules work on a priority basis
  • Ensure wastewater treatment is carried out in accordance with specific environmental protection regulations and standards
  • Assists in budget preparation and ensures operating expenses are within fiscal limits
  • Assists with developing bid specifications for operational improvements
  • Develop short and long term plans for operation and maintenance of facilities
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Science
  • Illinois Class I Wastewater Operator's Certificate
  • Valid Illinois Driver's License
  • Eight (8) years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity
  • Knowledge of Environmental Protection Standards pertaining to Wastewater Treatment plants
  • Knowledge of laboratory practices

Position Summary:

Program Manager is responsible to lead a team of project managers, student interns and contracted engineering resources in project sales engagements for water and wastewater solutions.

Individual will focus on project bid opportunity qualification, defining various business unit scopes of supply and timely market access coordination.

The District currently has an opening for the position of Laboratory Analyst at the District's Wastewater Treatment Center. located at 5003 Walnut Avenue, Downers Grove, IL. The current salary range for the position is $20.21 to $30.30 per hour. Please note that District employees must reside within a 30-minute travel time from the District's Wastewater Treatment Center located at 5003 Walnut Avenue, Downers Grove and must possess an Illinois Drivers License in good standing. A successful candidate must comply with these requirements within six months of employment.

Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry or Environmental Science degree required. Environmental laboratory experience preferred.
